Of the 2,983 chemicals (used in cosmetics) analysed by the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), the results were as follows:
884 of the ingredients were found to be toxic.
Of these:
314 can cause biological mutation (change in cells)
218 can cause reproductive complications
778 can cause acute toxicity
146 can cause tumours, and
376 can cause skin & eye irritations

Propylene Glycol: Industrial anti-freeze, major ingredient in brake & hydraulic fluid. Also used in cosmetics, toothpaste and lotions. Implicated in contact dermatitis, kidney damage & liver abnormalities.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) (SLES): Found in most brands of shampoo, conditioner, lotion & toothpaste, is also a major ingredient in car wash soap, engine degreaser & garage floor cleaner. Exposure to SLS may lead to hair loss, eye damage, skin irritations, and kidney damage. A burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea & vomiting are also possible side effects, according to this compound’s MSDS.

Alcohol, Aluminium, Coal Tar, Formaldehyde, Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Talc.
